Fascism. It's a word that gets thrown around a lot, often with a lot of emotional charge. But what is it, really? It's more than just a label or a political insult. It's a complex and dangerous ideology, and understanding it is crucial for building a more just and equitable world.

This module is not about labeling individuals. It's about understanding the characteristics of fascist ideology, regardless of what name it goes by. We're going to go beyond the stereotypes and explore the core tenets of fascism, how it manifests in the world, and, most importantly, how to challenge it.

To guide us, we'll use a simple framework: Real Lies, Real Eyes, Realize.

  • Real Lies: These are the false narratives, the distorted beliefs, and the manipulative propaganda that underpin fascist ideology. They are the foundation upon which fascism is built.

  • Real Eyes: This is the ability to see those lies for what they are – to recognize the patterns of fascist thought and language, to critically analyze information, and to resist manipulation.

  • Realize: This is the process of awakening – of understanding the truth about fascism and its dangers, and of committing to taking action to counter it. It's about both inner transformation and outer change.

This module is an invitation to understanding. It's not about attacking people who hold certain beliefs, but about examining the ideas themselves and their consequences. It's about recognizing that beliefs can change, that people can grow, and that we all have a role to play in building a world free from hate and oppression. We approach it knowing it is a spectrum. We are focused on giving language, and resources to those who are starting to question.
